September 7, 2017The first day of fourth grade and we are excited to get started on a new adventure! Welcome to Room 10!

We jumped right in with our first team building activity today. Talking and working together each team had to put a 100 piece puzzle together, but the teams were racing against each other to see which one would complete their puzzle first.
Here is our winning team and their puzzle.

September 8, 2017Another team building activity today. Working together, the task was to save Fred. Teams experienced success once they figured out the correct strategy.IMG_4114.JPGIMG_4115.JPGIMG_4116.JPGIMG_4117.JPGIMG_4118.JPGIMG_4119.JPGIMG_4120.JPGIMG_4121.JPG

We became cookie miners today as we explored what it would be like to mine coal. Many of us found out how difficult mining is. If our cookies crumbled, we were in danger of a cave-in.

October 2, 2017Our pinto beans really sprouted over the weekend. These pictures show the difference from Friday to today.

We're getting ready for our first Math test tomorrow. First, we each worked on an M&M activity to practice place value, comparing, and ordering. Next we teamed up with a partner and used dice to continue practicing place value.IMG_4161.JPGIMG_4162.JPGIMG_4163.JPGIMG_4164.JPGIMG_4166.JPGIMG_4165.JPGIMG_4167.JPGIMG_4168.JPGIMG_4169.JPGIMG_4170.JPGIMG_4171.JPGWe also finished working on our Photosynthesis diagrams and recipes today. Now they're on display in the hallway.

Today in honor of the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima, the school gathered around the statue of Mary in front of the school to recite the rosary. Layla and Tom were part of the living rosary. They each represented a bead on which we said a Hail Mary. Thanks to Ms. Braunstein for the photos.

October 20, 2017
Miss Abby from the Philadelphia Zoo came to school today. She taught us a lot about animal habitats and brought four animals to show us, a chinchilla, an owl, a snake, and a very big rabbit.
Changing Mr. Potato Head each Friday is an incentive we have for completing homework assignments. Every student who is still a member of the Homework Club can place their name in our pink can on Friday. The name picked changes Mr. Potato Head. We're all still trying to figure out what Sean made poor Mr. Potato Head this week.

We're using wicked witch fingers to help us follow along with the text in reading.IMG_4209.JPGIMG_4210.JPG

Working together in groups, we are learning to cite our evidence.

There is a new experiment at our Investigation Station to help us learn more about the skeletal system. We placed one chicken bone in water and one in vinegar. We will check it during the week to see if anything happens to either bone.IMG_4227.JPG

We also made x-rays of our hand and wrist today. We learned about the bones that are in our fingers, hand, wrist, and lower arm. We hung our completed x-rays in the window and they look really awesome!

After the Assembly, we had Science. It was time to check the two chicken bones we had placed in water and vinegar earlier this week. What a surprise when we held the bone that was in vinegar! Here's hoping you can explain what happened and why!

November 3, 2016
We had so much fun playing Bazinga today to review for our Science test on Monday. If the card was drawn, one team had to do 10 pushups. Billy was impressive by doing his push ups one-handed.
